We have some big exciting news! Sasha will be moving into the duplex next week! This whole process has been so long and drawn out due to the circumstances of this past year, Jed started the paperwork for Sasha last September, but eight months later it is finally happening. We are so excited for Sasha's new life to begin! The official date of his arrival is set to be May 24th. This Friday a committee will meet and officially sign over the guardianship of Sasha.
The past few weeks have been a lot of preparation and adjustment to get us and Anton ready for Sasha's arrival. Our friends Masha and Lesya have moved out to give space for Anton to adjust to Max and me being alone with him. These transitions can be very stressful for our friends, but Anton has been doing fairly well so far.
Anton has been living alone with assistants for over a year now, and so we are working to prepare him for the addition of Sasha. We have Sasha's room all set up, and we regularly tell him that Sasha will come to live with us soon. We show him pictures of Sasha and where he will sleep and eat. Currently, his reactions are indifferent at best, but we are hopeful that he will come to love Sasha just as he loves us.
In other news, spring has finally come to Ukraine. This week we started gardening between rainstorms. On nice days we take the boys outside and allow them to walk around or swing. Our friend Boris loves to sit out on the porch in the morning sun, and you'll often find Anton on the swings. Spring leads you to dream about summer and the possibilities of taking the boys swimming and into town. Of days spent outside getting dirty.
So I leave this time of blog post reflection with excitement and anticipation of what the next few months will bring!
